Intensive English Program
The IEP is a complete full-time English program for college and university-bound students.
Before you begin your lessons, you will sit for a placement test to determine your start level. Then, we can ensure that your lessons are relevant and suitable for your capabilities and learning goals.
Students from all over the world and regions gather at CLC. This offers students the opportunity to meet and make new friends from various nationalities while learning English.Because our students are from various backgrounds and languages, English is the only communication medium. Hence, it’s an ideal environment to practice and improve their English.
Students are required to join our skills class in which they are able to build their confidence, express their opinions and practice their English communicative skills.

Course Overview
There are 4 levels of English instruction at ELS. The beginner and elementary levels provide you with the foundation of the English language. As you progress to the intermediate levels, you will gain more confidence in using English in everyday activities. By the advanced levels, you will be able to communicate effectively and be ready for your higher education.
Before you begin your lessons, you will sit for a placement test to determine your start level at CLC. Once we know your level, we can ensure that your lessons are relevant and suitable for your capabilities and learning goals.
● Communicate at a basic level in everyday situations● Understand English when spoken to slowly and clearly● Understand a few words and phrases.
CEFR A2+ IELTS < 4.0
● Communicate at a basic level in everyday situations● Understand English when spoken to slowly and clearly● Understand a few words and phrases● Respond to simple questions and directions.
CEFR B1 IELTS 4.0 – 5.0
● Communicate facts and opinions● Discuss and argue in a culturally acceptable way● Understand most questions and statements at normal speaking speed● Carry on conversations with native speakers● Use English to shop, order food in restaurants and ask for directions● At this stage, be ready to enrol for pre-university / foundation programmes or take up preparation programmes for academic tests such as IELTS and TOEFL.
CEFR B2 IELTS 5.5 – 6.5
● Communicate effectively in most social situations● Understand a wide range of idioms● Maintain extended conversations with native speakers● Use English with growing accuracy and fluency, including in reading and writing● Participate fully in most conversations● Be ready to undertake diploma-level and certain undergraduate programmes conducted in English or conduct business in English at a basic level● Be ready for most undergraduate programmes at university level or work in an English-speaking environment● Be confident to embark on a university degree or post-graduate programme
Intensive English Program are conducted every day except for weekends and public holidays
100 Hours Learning Per Month
Students are learning English for 100 hours in each month. Any additional learning platform prepared for students is a bonus.
5 Hours a Day
5 contact hours per day. Students might be in CLC more than that as there are several breaks in between.
The IEP offers students a pathway to success in higher education as it fast-tracks the mastery of the English language efficiently and effectively. It does this by employing the proven communicative approach to language learning with a wide range of lively and highly interactive class activities. These activities challenge our students’ abilities while allowing them to have fun developing their English skills.
Structure & Speaking Practice (SSP)
Students are taught to communicate accurately and effectively in English. Students learn Listening, Speaking, Vocabulary and Grammar and practice using language in meaningful situations through activities such as group work, role-playing and class presentations.
Reading & Writing (R&W)
Students learn to improve their reading comprehension, increase their reading speed and develop their writing abilities. Reading and Writing lessons include group discussions and writing practice.
